INTRODUCTION

The Salt Lake Sector V Stakeholders’ Association is an association of organizations in diverse sectors of the economy, located in the Business Districts of Bidhannagar and the Rajarhat – Gopalpur Municipalities of West Bengal (Sector V, Rajarhat & other added areas) sharing a common infrastructure and other basic amenities. The Association was conceived by like minded individuals with the overall objective of the holistic development of the Business Districts and making them into a Model Township.

The Association believes that the process of urbanization cannot be reversed but our collective wisdom can provide an opportunity for the evolution of solutions to the challenges urbanization poses before all of us. These solutions would have to be found from within our organizations and implemented through a successful Public Private Partnership. Each organization present in these Business Districts, would be a part of the Association and for a model Township to evolve, there would be constant interactions with stakeholders like the Industry, Academia, Government and Non – Government Organizations to develop amicable solutions to issues related to civic and urban infrastructure and the provision of basic amenities to all. This would be done by mobilizing our opinions, suggestions, initiatives and supplementing them with the commendable efforts made by the Government.

OBJECTIVES

To take steps for promoting and encouraging the holistic development of infrastructure in the Business Districts of Bidhannagar and the Rajarhat – Gopalpur Municipalities of West Bengal and transforming the region into a Model Township
To encourage investment directly / indirectly in the region
To develop and strengthen Public Private Partnership in the region
To work in tandem with the appropriate authorities for the effective development of basic amenities and services
To identify ways of improving the quality of Traffic & Parking management in the region
To help industries in this region reduce their carbon footprints and make the region more environment friendly
To plan a Disaster Management System to tackle natural calamities and other unforeseen events
To promote measures leading to an increase in the level of safety and security of stakeholders in the region
To solicit the cooperation of companies and citizens in the maintenance of a clean, beautiful and a healthy township
To organize Workshops, Seminars, Group Discussions and meetings to educate organizations on relevant issues affecting their day – to – day functioning
To institute awards and organize social activities, cultural events, talent hunt competitions, sporting events etc. for organizations operating in the region
To represent and highlight at various fora, the problems and challenges faced by members or by the region
